Artigos bons on the Dutch Wikipedia

Bom dia!

Apologies for writing in English. I'm currently working with a group of users on the Dutch Wikipedia to introduce the concept of 'good articles' to our wiki. There has been considerable support in the past (a vote a few years ago actually ended in 50-50 :)), but also some concerns have been raised. We're now re-thinking the idea and we'd like to convince those who've opposed it back then. Could someone help us by telling something about the project on this wiki?

I'm especially interested in:

• The process of granting articles the 'GA' status: how does it work here? How does it relate to 'featured articles'?
• The benefits: why do you have 'good articles'? Why was the concept introduced here?
• The challenges: for example, how do you keep the discussions short, simple and focused? And, how do you keep people interested?

Do you have any advice? We'd love to learn from our sister projects, and we'd appreciate any help whatsoever!

Hi Mathonius! Apologies for my English. I will try my best to give you the answers you're looking.

We have Wikipédia:Avaliação de artigos, a page that establishes the "logic" behind having good articles. See, there are basic principles every article should follow. If a page follows every principle, and show good content, than it's a good article. If it exceeds it, showing exceptional content, than it should be a featured article. The grade system does not go from 1 to 5, but from 1 to 6.

That's the benefit: "good articles" are what every article should be. "Featured articles" are even better than that. Once people realize this, they keep interested, because everyone can produce good articles with some effort, but to reach "featured" status, they would have to do some extensive research in order to create a "complete" page. "Good articles" must cover everything about the subject. "Featured articles" not only cover everything, but they also cover it in detail.

The process is simples: We have Wikipédia:Escolha do artigo em destaque, a voting system where the articles are evaluated by the community. If someone makes a nomination for "featured article", we examine the criteria and see if it fits as "featured" or as "good". If someone makes a nomination for "good article", we examine it to see if it fits the criteria for "good article".

Quem são "Galvão, Frei"; "Lovato, Demi"; "Alves, Juliana"??? Não temos o costume dos anglófonos (e outras línguas) de priorizar o sobrenome! O usuário da Wikipédia deve ter sua vida facilitada: quando alguém vai procurar numa relação em ordem alfabética pensa logo em como o nome é mais conhecido (além de ser o próprio nome do artigo). A pessoa vai procurar Freddie Mercury na letra F e vai ter que se ligar pra ir pra M, pois está na lista como "Mercury, Freddie" (tosco)... Pra que tanta invencionice?!? Às vezes menos é mais... Dear colleagues on ptwiki,

Recently, some 'featured' and 'good' badges were added to the wikidata item of the article Ha*Ash (d:Q5494459) by the user who created the article in many languages (User:Prince Haash). The badge for enwiki was removed by Deltabot 4 times, and I removed the badges for ptwiki and eswiki because I couldn't find any trace that the articles really have been granted the 'featured' or 'good' status on your and the Spanish Wikipedias. However, Dexbot readded the 'good article' badge for ptwiki. I don't know all the rules and processes for article receiving the 'good article' and 'featured article' statuses on the different Wikipedias, so I might have removed the badge wrongfully.

Thank you JMagalhães, for the confirmation. Ladsgroup said Dexbot works based on Categoria:!Artigos bons. Now I found out the article was added to that category by the module Módulo:Categorização AD e AB de outras wikis – which gets the badge information from wikidata. So kind of a circular reference! Previous time I didn't touch the article after removing the badge, so the article was still in the "category cache". This time the article was really removed from the category after I removed the badge and I made a null-edit to the article.

I guess an update to the module, and/or some periodical check of the badges on wikidata against an official list of good/featured articles, are needed to prevent cases like this. With kind regards — Mar(c). ^[D] 17h56min de 28 de janeiro de 2019 (UTC)
